Who we are

East Coast Water Solutions Limited (“ECW”, “we”, “us”) is a Nova Scotia company. We sell, install and service water treatment equipment. Water Quality Advisory, our booking page at canada.waterqualityadvisory.com, is part of ECW. It is not a government agency.

This policy covers our website, our booking form, our forms on Facebook and Instagram, and our calls, texts and home visits. By sending us a request or using our services, you agree to us handling your information as this policy describes. Our services are meant for adults.

Our owner is our privacy officer. Call 902-907-3864 or write to Privacy Officer, East Coast Water Solutions Limited, 11 Pettipas Drive, Unit P, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B3B 1K1.

What we collect

  • What you give us: your name, phone number, email and address, your town and postal code, whether you own your home, your water source, what you’d like help with, the best time to reach you, and your OK to be called or texted.
  • Which ad, search or website sent you to us, for example a campaign tag or ad click code.
  • Our calls and texts with you, including call recordings and voicemails, and our team’s notes.
  • Your visit, purchase, equipment, service and payment records. Our customer records don’t hold card numbers.
  • Names and numbers from water surveys and lead lists. We may call these people to offer a water test.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • call or text you to book, confirm and remind you about your water test, visit or installation;
  • do your visit, show you treatment options and follow up on what you decided;
  • sell, install and service your equipment, bill you and keep our records;
  • see which ads and pages bring in requests;
  • keep our “Do not call” and “stop texting” lists, and meet our legal duties.

We don’t sell your personal information.

When we call or text you

  • Calls may be recorded for training purposes. This includes calls to and from our office. If you’d rather not be recorded, tell us at the start of the call and we can pause the recording, or you can write to us instead.
  • Please don’t read out card numbers on a recorded call.
  • We text you about your bookings. We send offers by text only when Canada’s anti-spam law allows it, never after you reply STOP, and never to people whose only contact with us was our website water test form.
  • To stop texts, reply STOP to any text. To stop calls, tell us on the call, call 902-907-3864, or write to us. We mark you “Do not call”.
  • Message and data rates may apply.

Who we share it with

  • Our team sees what it needs for its work.
  • Companies that work for us, such as our database and hosting, phone and text, maps, email, and IT and software support, handle it on our behalf. Some are outside Canada, mostly in the United States. There, the courts, police and security authorities of that country may be able to access it under its laws.
  • A lender, with your OK, if you choose to finance a purchase.
  • When the law requires it, for example to answer a court order.

If you fill in one of our forms on Facebook or Instagram, they also keep a copy under their own privacy policy.

Cookies and website data

  • Our website and booking form don’t use cookies, analytics or ad-tracking tools, and load no scripts from other companies.
  • While you browse, our website keeps which ad or website sent you in your browser’s session storage (not a cookie), so the booking form can record it. It holds no name or contact details, and your browser clears it when you close the tab.
  • Like any website, our host receives your IP address and browser details to deliver our pages. We don’t store your IP address with your request. We use it for a short time to block spam.
  • If we ever start using tracking tools, we will update this page first.

How we keep it safe

We keep your information while we need it for the reasons above, and as long as the law requires (for example, tax and accounting records). We use encrypted connections, and our team must sign in and sees only what its role needs. No system is perfect. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.

How to see, fix or delete your information

Call 902-907-3864 or write to Privacy Officer, East Coast Water Solutions Limited, 11 Pettipas Drive, Unit P, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B3B 1K1. Tell us your name and the phone number or email you used with us. We may ask a few questions to make sure it’s you. There is no charge.

  • To delete: we stop all calls and texts to you, mark you “Do not call”, delete your call recordings and voicemails, and take your records out of use. We confirm in writing within 30 days.
  • To see or fix: we answer within 30 days. If we need more time, we tell you why in writing, tell you that you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and take no more than 30 extra days. Need it in another format, such as large print? Just ask.
  • To take back your OK: you can withdraw your consent at any time, unless a law or a contract requires us to keep using the information.

What we may keep: records the law requires (such as sales and tax records), a note of your request so we don’t contact you again, and copies in backups, archives and older systems for some time. Our office system keeps a locked history of changes, so some records can’t be erased completely; we take them out of use. For what Facebook or Instagram keep, use your Facebook or Instagram settings.
